Leather Care

Your H&S leather is meant to last as it is of the finest quality. But all leather needs care, so why not protect your finest? With a little time and proper care, you can extend the life of your beautiful H&S leather.

When it comes to shoes, a professional shoe shine once in a while is ideal.

Whether it is bags or shoes, you need to clean them on a regular basis. Leather lotions should be applied with a soft cloth to remove the grime. Leather conditioners greatly help in softening the leather. For suede leather, clean with a suede brush.

Shoes and bags need a day off, never use either on two consecutive days to reduce wear and retain their shape.

Always use a shoe horn to wear your shoes to protect your heel collar and counter from unnecessary wear.

Leather needs to be stored in a cool, dry place. Avoid direct sunlight and other extreme conditions. Air them regularly. Keep silica packets inside your bags to help them retain their shape.

Let water spills dry naturally. Never try to use the hair-dryer to dry your wet leather shoes as it will damage it beyond repair.

Flaunt your H&S leather and with a little care you can keep it shining and beautiful for a very long time.

Care for your shoes and other pieces of leather art

Your H&S Leather is meant to last as it is of the finest quality. But all leather needs care, so why not protect your finest? With a little time and proper care, you can extend the life of your beautiful H&S Leather.

Let’s begin with your shoes

Shoes need regular, systematic care if you would like them to be an integral part of your grooming. What you need to do are simple steps that will keep your H&S Shoes, gleaming and in perfect health.

Cleaning and Polishing

To begin with, keep your shoes clean. Use a hard hair brush to remove dust from the shoe surface. Keep an eye on the edges of your shoe and clean them well. Use a soft cloth to then wipe your shoes clean.

Take a little shoe cream and use a soft cloth or cream applicator to gently massage it on to your shoes. Keep it on and let your shoes absorb the natural oils from the cream.

Now, apply shoe polish, slowly, gently, using a brush. Never use liquid polish as it will dry up the leather and it will start cracking.

Now, let your shoe dry for about 10 minutes, and then buff it with a soft brush.

Your shoes will stay gleaming for a long, long time!

Care of Suede shoes

Like your all-leather shoes, caring for your suede shoes should begin with cleaning them. Use a clean brush, even a toothbrush, to remove dirt. Remember, you should always brush your suede shoes in one direction, to retain its good looks.

Use the special suede shoe polish; allow it to dry a bit.

Before it is completely dry, brush your suede shoes from heel to toe again.

Some shoe care basics

• Never store your shoes in the boxes they came in. Take them out and keep them on your shoe shelf

• Your new shoes should be worn for 3-4 hours at a stretch at a time, so you can wear them for a longer duration later

• Never wear the same shoe on consecutive days…give them a day off!

• Always use a shoe tree when you’ve polished your shoes or when giving them a day off! Shoe trees retain the shape of the shoe, reduce wrinkles and if the trees are made from natural material such as cedar, they even absorb moisture and deodorize

• Always use a shoe horn while trying to wear your shoes to protect your heel collar and counter from unnecessary wear.

Caring for wet shoes

When your beautiful shoes get wet, not to worry! Dry them as quickly as possible, but never expose them to direct heat…definitely no hair-dryer, not even sunlight.

The best thing to do would be to stuff them with newspapers or tissue papers and dry them!

Caring for your leather bags

Just like your leather shoes, leather bags too need your special attention.

Care begins with keeping your bags clean. A little warm water is enough to gently remove the dirt. Do not use too much pressure while cleaning. More gentle strokes than a few harsh strokes are always better.

You could protect your beautiful bag from scratches by coating it with Vaseline or shoe polish. Never use liquid polish, as it will dry out the leather and it will start cracking.

Apply polish once in two weeks at least, to keep your bag in great condition. Also, store your bags away from harsh sunlight, preserve them in their special bags and stuff them with silica packets to retain their shape.

If your beautiful bag gets wet for some reason, dry them naturally, without exposing them to direct heat. Please do not use a hair-dryer to dry them; it will damage the leather permanently.

When you take good care of your leather, they will stay with you and add to your style for decades to come!
